Our Approach

Each sash window was carefully assessed to retain as much of the original hardwood as possible while upgrading performance where required.

• Existing sash windows were carefully removed and the openings temporarily secured
• Window sills were repaired or replaced to ensure long-term durability
• Outer liners and pulley stiles were repaired or replaced as required
• New non-stretch cotton sash cords were installed for smooth, balanced operation
• New hardwood parting beads and glazing beads were fitted
• All sashes were sanded back to remove existing paint and prepare the timber
• Finished with three coats of high-quality paint
• Refurbished sashes were refitted into the existing repaired frames

Energy-Efficient Double Glazing Upgrade

To improve insulation while maintaining the traditional appearance of the windows, we installed:

• 4-8-4 clear double glazing units
• Warm edge spacer technology
• Minimal seal sightlines
• Black spacer bars for an authentic heritage finish
• Argon gas filling for enhanced thermal performance

This upgrade improves comfort, reduces draughts, and helps lower energy costs while preserving the original sash window proportions.

Traditional Polished Brass Ironmongery

Period-appropriate polished brass ironmongery was selected to complement the
character of the Dublin 4 property:

• Steel sash weights, 50mm square
• Large square pulleys – polished brass finish
• Brighton fastener – polished brass
• Two sash lifts – polished brass
• One sash ring – polished brass
